The Equilibrium Plan

One day, Maisie called Catherine out to trim her own ponies’ hooves. They got chatting and realised that together they could provide a service to help people examine every part of their horse’s care.

Catherine and Maisie’s vision is to create a complete package looking at every aspect of equine health.
Together they will assess your horse’s physical and psychological wellbeing, and help you to come up with a practical plan to work specifically for you and your situation.

The Equilibrium plan of action is tailored to meet the needs of client and human carer.  For every client, detailed records are taken, covering medical history, right through to behavioural and environmental factors. This includes photos and videos to establish the start of a photographic timeline. We will also assess the gait and footfall of the horse. Catherine will do an initial trim and Maisie an initial therapy session to help them to gauge the health of the feet and muscles.
From this information, the team work with you to create the perfect plan to help your horse. This might include steps for you to take under their advice, such as hoof care, stretches, groundwork, enrichment, behavioural training, or ridden work

Progress reports are included, which are all accessible to your veterinary practice.

The programme is likely to adjust and change as you and your horse progress. Catherine and Maisie take pride in their flexibility to the evolving needs of any equine presented to them. They will keep you informed along the way, explaining why they are carrying out each step. To Maisie and Catherine, the horse-human partnership is an essential ingredient in the recipe for success. You are involved in your horse’s care every step of the way.

As an Equine Podiatrist, Catherine can help advise on holistic aspects of hoof care, including hoof health, and your horse’s nutrition. She can combine this with her Applied Zoopharmacognosy qualification, which is study of the self selection of medicines.

Maisie is a qualified equine massage therapist and a behavioural consultant. As such, she is able to assess both your horse’s physiological and psychological needs. She is currently studying Equine Physiotherapy with The College of Animal Physiotherapy.

Maisie and Catherine are both passionate teachers, so will go to great lengths to ensure that they are working with you in a way which works best for you.

Catherine Bradley

In Catherine's own words...

"My business 'Fit for a Queenie' is named after my sadly departed elderly mare, Queenie.  She started me on a journey to holistic health care for horses, which has taken me through two diplomas in Applied Zoopharmacognosy, two reiki levels and onto a diploma in Equine Podiatry with Equine Podiatry Training Ltd.

I have had barefoot horses since 2009. They had had a variety of 'jobs' including dressage, driving, hacking and generally enjoying retirement.  My latest equine adventure is learning French classical dressage side saddle on my shire mare!

As an Equine Podiatrist (EP), I am interested in utilizing natural healing mechanisms to help your horse produce the best hoof it can.  My background in Applied Zoopharmacognosy makes me very keen to use the gentlest, most natural products I can, when supplementation and hoof 'jollop' is needed.

I am a full member of the Equine Podiatry Association (UK)."
